I think it was an urban legend ~ I never even heard of until your question. They seem to actively make rumors about movies, even the older ones, which could be the last.

No, "Candyman" deaths. Nobody died, you see this film or its consequences.

EDIT: I saw what others had to say. Firstly, THX 1138, Lucas'm a fan, also particularly in this film, whose title is a kind injoke in films directed by George Lucas. I wonder how many people have done a lot of mirror and winced. * Giggle * Tony Todd: What a voice and presence! This man is a symbol of horror!

My mother and I saw this bunch, because we love Tony Todd. We are not dead yet! And I said: "Candyman" five times, again and again and again. Urban Legend!
